January 25, 2011 ~ Christine Arthur will participate in a NAWBO panel discussion “Giving and You—How to incorporate Giving into Your Business”. The panel will explore different ways business owners can give, how a person incorporates giving into their business model and the case for charitable giving for business owners. Other panelists will include Carol Carter, President ICPC and April Harrison, United Way. November 17, 2010 ~ Arthur & Associates was a proud table sponsor of the 2010 Utah Philanthropy Day . Christine Arthur and Chris Yoakam were joined at their table by Kristine Pepin, Executive Director of Best Buddies; Jeff Robbins, President and CEO of Utah Sports Commission; David Winder, Board Member of Utah Sports Commission; Steve Rich, V.P. of Operations of Utah Sports Commission; Denise Begue, Director of Development Ballet West and Sheryl LeFavi, recipient of the Ballet West 2010 Hearts and Hands Award. November 13, 2010 ~ Arthur & Associates was proud to sponsor a table at the annual Ballet West Gala. Christine Arthur and Chris Yoakam were joined at their table by Julie Mack, Regional Director of The Wilderness Society; Fraser Nelson, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Utah and Anne Burkholder, President and CEO of the YWCA of Salt Lake. October 6, 2010 ~ Christine Arthur taught classes in nonprofit financial accounting through the University of Utah Nonprofit Academy of Excellence. The classes covered the application of accounting standards unique to nonprofit organizations and was also taught on September 29, 2010. September 30, 2010 ~ Christine Arthur spoke to the United Way Executive Directors Association on “Detecting and Preventing Fraud in a Nonprofit Organization”. Unfortunately fraud is a bigger problem than ever in these tough economic times. September 14, 2010 ~ Christine Arthur presented at the Turnaround Management Association training. She was a member of a panel made up of Fraser Nelson, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Utah and Deborah Bayle, President and CEO of United Way of Salt Lake. They discussed the importance of sound financial management in tough economic times and the critical role the board plays in this effort.

Academy Scholarships - Arthur & Associates continues to support the University of Utah Nonprofit Academy of Excellence by offering a $500 tuition scholarship for the spring semester 2011. Inquiries about this scholarship should be directed to the Academy. Utah Nonprofits Association Partner - Arthur & Associates is pleased to announce their continuing support of the Utah Nonprofits Association as a UNA Partner for 2011. Ballet West - This spring Arthur & Associates will be sponsoring an evening performance of Ballet West. Date and details to come. Tickets for friends and clients will be available. Hearts and Hands - Christine Arthur was a recipient of the 2010 Hearts and Hands award for her service as Chair of the Advisory Board of the University of Utah Nonprofit Academy.
